Spoon as a Bowl/2022/porcelain and stoneware/Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery
Koki Lxx（Francisco Jin Sung Lee）は、フィリピン・ケソン市を拠点に活動するビジュアルアーティストです。2018年よりグループ展に参加し、Vinyl on Vinyl、West Gallery、Mono8、Mugna Gallery Dumaguete（フィリピン）などで個展を開催、そして2025年4月には日本・黄金町のGallery Yusuiでも個展を行いました。セラミック、絵画、その他のメディアを用いて、現代における社会関係や構造を問い直す作品を制作しており、日本ではMerienda Books Kyotoから写真集も出版しています。フィリピン大学でArt Studiesを専攻しました。 多文化的な家庭に生まれ、常に「親しさ」と「異質さ」が交錯する環境で育った彼の作品は、ひとつの惑星＝地球に生きる人間のあり方を問いかけます。セラミック、絵画、そしてオルタナティブなメディアを通じて、記憶・歴史・グローバルな関係性といった概念を掘り下げ、とりわけグリッサンの「群島論」に着目しています。それは、世界をひとつの大きな群島として捉え、文化が転移・交換され、人類すべてに共通するグローバル文化を創り出すという想像力に基づいた視座です。
Koki Lxx (Francisco Jin Sung Lee), is a visual artist who works and lives in Quezon City, Philippines. He has
been part of group exhibitions since 2018, and has had solo exhibitions at Vinyl on Vinyl, West Gallery,
Mono8, Mugna Gallery Dumaguete (Philippines), and recently a solo exhibition at Gallery Yusui, Koganecho
(Japan) in April 2025. He works with ceramics, painting, and other media to interrogate social relationships
and structures as they unfold in the contemporary era, and has published photo books in Japan under
Merienda Books Kyoto. Koki took up Art Studies at the University of the Philippines.
Coming from a multicultural household and raised in an environment that is constantly familiar and foreign at
the same time, his works interrogate our state as human beings who belong to and live on one planet:
Earth. Working with ceramics, painting, and alternative mediums, notions of memory, history, and global
relationships are threshed out, with a particular focus on Glissant’s Archipelago which imagines the world as
one big archipelago where cultures are transferred and exchanged to create a global culture for all humans.
