Merino paints with a technique called "egg tempera" that was used in Italy in the medieval and Renaissance periods. She has been drawing a virtual village for more than 10 years; She draws nut and seed buildings and various imagined stories about the people living in them. She has participated in a long artist-in-residence program in Kogane-cho from January 2011 up until now.
