Born in Tokyo. In 1993, Hiroko Okada completed Oil Painting Course in the Department of Painting at Tama Art University. Her works deal with issues in the contemporary society. Aside from solo exhibitions at Mizuma Art Gallery (Tokyo), she has shown her works in various exhibitions in Japan and abroad including "Global Feminisms" (Brooklyn Museum, 2007) and "VIDEO FORMES" (video festival in France, 2009). She formed a unit with her family members called "Aidake", and participated in "An Art Exhibition for Children: Whose place is this?" (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, 2015). Her practice covers a wide range of activities such as initiating an alternative puppet theatre called "GEKIDAN★SHIKI".
