ベンジャミン・トンー心のある場所が家である これから
黄金町エリアマネジメントセンターでの6か月間のレジデンスを通して、Benjamin Tongは彫刻作品による展覧会「Home Is Where the Heart Is」を発表します。
本展は、「Home is where the heart is（心のある場所が家である）」という言葉を文字通りに捉えるところから始まります。もし「心のある場所が家」なのだとすれば、この建物にもまた「心」があるのではないか。GALA HOUSEそのものを、個々の作品を収める単なる器ではなく、ひとつの生きた身体として捉え、それぞれの部屋を展示を巡るための地点ではなく、身体を構成する解剖学的な要素として位置づけます。鑑賞者はテーマに沿ったインスタレーションを巡るのではなく、何かの「内部」を歩いていくことになります。
本展は、自然と人工、神聖なものと創り出されたものが、もはや切り離すことのできない場所としての「身体」について考察します。そこにあるのは、単に彫刻作品を収めた建物ではなく、心臓を宿す身体であり、見つめる身体であり、記憶する身体です。
この空間を巡ることは、単に部屋から部屋へと移動する身体的な体験にとどまりません。それは同時に、自分にとって、ある場所を「家」と感じさせるものとは何なのか、その内側へと向かっていく体験でもあります。
For his six-month residency at Koganecho AMC, Benjamin Tong brings sculptural work to present ‘Home Is Where the Heart Is.’ The exhibition takes that phrase at its word: if home is where the heart is, then this building has one. Gala House itself becomes a living body rather than a container for separate artworks, each room an anatomical fact rather than a stop on a tour, so the viewer doesn’t move through a themed installation, they move through the inside of something.
The exhibition offers a reflection on the body as a site where the natural and the artificial, the sacred and the invented, are no longer separable. It is not just a building housing sculpture but a body holding a heart, a body that watches, a body that remembers. To move through the space is not only a physical passage from room to room, but an inward one, toward whatever it is that makes anywhere feel like home.

アーティスト
ベンジャミン・トンは、香港にルーツを持つイギリス生まれのアーティスト。セントラル・セント・マーチンズで学士号（2022年）、ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートで修士号（2025年）を取得した。
主にミクストメディアによる彫刻作品を制作し、遊びと暴力、神聖さと不条理の間にある不安定な境界を探求している。幼少期に親しんだメディアや神話から着想を得て、幻想的なものとグロテスクなものを衝突させながら、どこか親しみがありながらも異質に感じられる、断片化された世界を生み出している。
Benjamin Tong is a British-born artist, with Hong Kong roots. He received a BA from Central Saint Martins (2022) and an MA from the Royal College of Art (2025). His work in primarily mixed medium sculpture that explore the unstable boundaries between play and violence, the sacred and the absurd. Drawing from childhood media and mythology, his sculptures collide the fantastical with the grotesque, creating fragmented worlds that feel both familiar and alien.
