チェ・ウォンギュは、リサーチを基盤に物語を空間化する実践を行うアーティスト。映画美術、紳士服仕立て、建築・インテリアデザイン、ミュージックビデオ制作など、多領域での経験を背景に、物語や記憶、感情を空間的な体験へと翻訳する方法を探求している。

建築的構造、サウンド、映像、インスタレーション、既製品など多様なメディアを用い、特定の場所に蓄積された時間、不可視の労働、人々の営みの痕跡を可視化する作品を制作している。2019年よりアーティストとして活動を開始し、見過ごされがちな物語や歴史を再考するためのリサーチベースのインスタレーションを展開している。

Profile

Choi Wongyu is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is based on research and the spatial visualization of narratives. Drawing from his background in film art direction, menswear tailoring, architecture and interior design, and music video production, he explores how stories, memories, and emotions can be translated into spatial experiences.
Working across installation, sound, video, architectural structures, and found materials, Choi investigates the layers of time, invisible labor, and lived experiences embedded within specific sites. His work focuses on overlooked narratives and the traces left by individuals whose contributions often remain unseen.
Since beginning his artistic practice in 2019, Choi has developed research-based installations that combine multiple media and archival approaches, creating open-ended works that invite audiences to reconsider hidden histories and everyday realities.
