Fumi Suzuki

Born in Miyagi in 1988 and based in Tokyo and Kanagawa, Japan. Fumi Suzuki graduated from The Film School of Tokyo in 2014, then worked in the art department of the cinema industry. She received a master’s degree from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019. She works across the fields of film and contemporary art. She also writes film reviews. Her artwork is deeply rooted in her own experience, and her major themes include the relationship between individual identity and institutions, the notion of beauty and ugliness created by image in the history of film and video, and “seeing/being seen”.
