ある日、ミサイルが空を横切った。
またある日には、宇宙船が月周回軌道へ打ち上げられた。
いつの頃からか、飛行機の往来は減っていた。
それでも、この場所の空は変わらず澄んでいる。

《観測日誌》は、日常の中で出会った光や色彩、風景を記録した作品である。

キムはグリッドを基盤とし、一つひとつのマスを色で埋めながら、観察した光景を風景へと翻訳していく。この手法は、幼少期に夢中になった五目並べへの興味に由来している。グリッドの中に色彩が蓄積されることで、それぞれの色が互いに強め合い、均衡し、応答しながら、一つのイメージを形作っていく。

本展で繰り返し登場する「星」は、夜空に輝く天体であると同時に、国家や組織、理念、願望を象徴してきた記号でもある。キムは星というかたちで光の痕跡を記録することで、ひとつのイメージが置かれた文脈によって異なる意味を帯びる瞬間に注目している。

1. 五目並べ（Omok／Gomoku）：格子状の盤面上で、石を縦・横・斜めのいずれかに5つ連続して並べることを目指す戦略ゲーム。

One day, a missile crossed the sky.
Another day, a spacecraft was launched into lunar orbit.
At some point, airplane traffic decreased.
The sky here remains clear.

Observation Log is a record of the light, color, and landscapes encountered in everyday life.

Working on a grid, Kim repeatedly fills individual cells with color, translating observed scenes into landscapes. This method originates from her childhood fascination with the game of Omok1. As colors accumulate within the grid, they reinforce, counterbalance, and respond to one another, gradually forming a single image.

Stars, which recur throughout the exhibition, refer not only to celestial bodies in the night sky but also to symbols that have long embodied nations, institutions, ideals, and aspirations. By recording traces of light in the form of stars, Kim focuses on moments when a single image can be read in different ways depending on its context.
