私は建物と対話をします。
そして、黄金町でのレジデンス期間中、私は自らが暮らした「山本アパート」との内省的な対話を重ねていきました。これらのやりとりは「郵便で送る手紙」というかたちをとりながら、私の制作の方向性や「場所」への理解に大きな影響を与えてくれました。
建築を学び、物語を深く愛する私の表現活動は、「場所の感覚」を通じた一種の自民族誌的な探求へと発展してきました。私は「間主観性」「ライフワールド（生活世界）」「記憶」「人格性」といった概念が、建築空間を通してどのように表れるかに関心があります。
空間とは、単なる物理的な構造を超えて、人の存在によってかたちづくられ、また私たちのあり方にも影響を与えるものだと考えています。
今回のシリーズでは、重なり合うライフワールドや記憶の層が、いかにして独自の「場所の感覚」を生み出しているかを見つめ直しました。
《Letters to Post》《Soft Impressions》《Baku says Daijoubu》の3つの作品を通じて、私は山本アパートを、単なる壁や床の集合体ではなく、「気配を持つ空気」「複数の存在が織りなす集合体」「人々の営みを静かに見守る証人」として描き出しています。
これらの作品は、建物を「感覚をもった仲間」として捉える想像力へと、観る人をいざないます——感情の記憶庫であり、ささやきや沈黙のジェスチャーを蓄えた存在として。
このシリーズは現在も進行中であり、今後クアラルンプールでの個展に向けてさらに発展させていく予定です。

I talk to buildings. And so, during my residency in Koganecho, I found myself in an ongoing, introspective dialogue with Yamamoto Apartment, the building I lived in. These exchanges, through series of letters “sent by post”, deeply shaped the direction of my work and my understanding of place.
With a background in architecture and a deep love for stories, my art practice has evolved into a kind of auto-ethnographic exploration through sense of place. I explore ideas of intersubjectivity, lifeworlds, memory, and personhood—particularly how these concepts manifest through the built environment. I am interested in how spaces carry more than their physical structure; how they are shaped by the people who move through them, and how they, in turn, shape us.
This body of work reflects on how overlapping lifeworlds and layered memories create a distinct sense of place. In Letters to Post, Soft Impressions, and Baku says Daijoubu, I offer three ways of perceiving Yamamoto Apartment—not just as a building of walls and floors, but as a living mood, a collection of presences, a witness to lives. These pieces invite viewers to consider buildings as sentient companions—repositories of emotions, whispers, and silent gestures.
This work is ongoing and will be further developed into a solo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.

Artist Profile
Xeem Noor（ジーム・ヌール）は、マレーシア・クアラルンプール出身の建築および美術のバックグラウンドを持つ現代テキスタイルアーティストです。現在は、編み物、かぎ針編み、刺繍、ドローイング、ペインティングなどの技法や素材を用いながら、彫刻、インスタレーション、ウェアラブル作品といった多様な形式で制作を行っています。
彼女の作品は、「間主観性」や「ライフワールド」、「記憶」、「人格」、「視覚的・感覚的表現」といったテーマを、場所との関係性に根ざした内省的な視点から探求しています。Xeemは、アーティストとはオートエスノグラファー（自己民族誌的な実践者）であり、物語を咀嚼し、コミュニティを表現する責任があると考えています。
アーティストとして本格的に活動を始める前は、講師、ライター、編集者、アートマネージャーとしても活躍していました。2017年以降、さまざまなグループ展に参加し、スペインやドイツでのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスにも選ばれています。黄金町でのレジデンスは、マレーシアのYayasan Hasanahと国立美術館（National Art Gallery Malaysia）の支援を受けています。
Xeem Noor is a contemporary textile artist with a background in architecture and fine arts from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She currently works with techniques and materials like knitting, crocheting, embroidery, drawing and painting as well as in forms of sculptures, installations and wearables.
Her works explore the ideas of intersubjectivity, lifeworlds, memories, personhood, visual expressions and sensorial expressions, rooted in introspective observations of the sense of place. Xeem believes in the artist as an auto-ethnographer with the responsibility to digest stories and represent a community in art and expressions.
Before becoming a full-time artist, she worked as a lecturer, writer, editor and arts manager. She has exhibited in various group shows since 2017 and has been awarded residencies in Spain and Germany. Her residency in Koganecho is supported by Yayasan Hasanah Malaysia and the National Art Gallery Malaysia.
