「Somewhere We Called Home」 は、Antonio Milo Sebastian と Anindya Nabila Aletha Zulham による二人展であり、「家」という概念を空間的・建築的な枠組みを超えて捉え直す試みです。本展では、家は特定の場所や建築によって規定されるものではなく、むしろ感情的で関係性によって形成される空間として理解されます。人との出会い、記憶、そして互いを認め合うことによって形づくられる空間であり、ときには、見知らぬものに満ちた世界の中で受け入れられているという感覚が、静かな瞬間の中から立ち現れることもあります。

二人のアーティストは、インドネシア各地を旅する中で出会った風景やコミュニティ、文化的実践を記録しながら、「帰属すること」の意味を少しずつ捉え直していきました。共に交わした会話、日常のささやかな身振り、あるいは人々のあたたかなもてなしといった瞬間の中で、「家」は所有されるものや構築されるものではなく、人と人、場所、そして経験のあいだを流れ続けるものとして現れてきます。

急速に変化する現代社会において、文化的なルーツはしばしば近代的な構造やグローバルな語りの中で覆い隠されてしまいます。本展の作品は、つながりや伝統、そして日常の中にある人間の存在が、いかにして私たちの帰属感を支え続けているのかを、あらためて問いかけます。

それぞれ異なる旅路と制作の時間軸を持ちながらも、二人のアーティストは異なるメディアと感性を通して、同じような気づきへとたどり着きました。Milo は、記憶や文化的構造、生活の経験を抽象的な視覚構成へと翻訳する重層的な絵画を通して、これらの出会いを表現しています。テクスチャーやパターン、有機的な表面を通して、彼の作品は可視と不可視の両方から成る「基盤」を想起させます。それは、人がどのように自らの拠り所を築いていくのかを形づくるものでもあります。

一方、Aletha は写真というメディアを通してこのテーマにアプローチします。彼女は、日常の中で見過ごされがちな人のささやかな仕草や風景、静かな空気感を観察します。彼女の写真は、人の存在、脆さ、そして環境が交差する瞬間を捉え、移ろいやすい空間や束の間の出会いの中で、帰属の感覚がいかに静かに生まれるのかを映し出しています。

異なるプロセスや時間の中から生まれた二人の実践は、最終的に一つの共通した思索へと収束します。それは、信頼や受容、そして人と人とのつながりが、見知らぬ場所を深く親密な空間へと変えていくということ――かつて私たちが「家」と呼んだ場所へと。

Somewhere We Called Home is a duo exhibition presented by Antonio Milo Sebastian and Anindya Nabila Aletha Zulham that reflects on the meaning of home beyond spatial and architectural ideas. Instead of being viewed as a space determined by place or architecture, home here is understood as an emotional and relational space. A space formed through encounters, memories, and recognition that sometimes comes from silence about the sense of being accepted in the midst of a world full of strangeness.

Departing from their journeys across various regions in Indonesia, these two artists captured landscapes, communities, and cultural practices that gradually reshaped their understanding of what belonging means. In those moments, whether through shared conversations, everyday gestures, or the gentle warmth of hospitality, home appeared not as something owned or constructed, but as something that continues to flow between people, places, and experiences.

In the midst of a rapidly changing contemporary world, where cultural roots are often overshadowed by modern structures and global narratives, these works invite the audience to reconsider how connection, tradition, and everyday human presence continue to sustain the feeling of belonging.

Developed through parallel journeys and different artistic timelines, both artists arrived at a similar realization through different media and sensibilities. Milo reflects on these encounters through layered paintings that translate memory, cultural structures, and lived experiences into abstract visual compositions. Through textures, patterns, and organic surfaces, his works evoke foundations through the visible and the invisible. Something that shapes how individuals build their sense of grounding.

Meanwhile, Aletha approaches this reflection through photography, observing gentle human gestures, landscapes, and quiet atmospheres that are often overlooked in daily life. Her images capture moments where presence, vulnerability, and environment intertwine, revealing how belonging can emerge silently in transient spaces and fleeting encounters.

Although born from different processes and moments in time, their artistic practices ultimately converge in one shared contemplation: how trust, acceptance, and human connection can transform unfamiliar places into spaces that feel deeply intimate as a place we once called home.
