「passageiro 乗客」は、黄金町アーティスト・イン・レジデンス・プログラムにおける滞在を通じて制作されたジョアォン・アンジェリーニの作品を集めた展覧会であり、「乗客」という存在を軸に据えている。つまりそれは領域や文化、意味の体系を横断しながら移動する者という意味である。彼のリサーチはこの移動の状態における観察、記憶、そしてそこから生まれたずれ（displacement）を語り、暫定的な出来事をひとつのジェスチャーとして結びつけ、経験やイメージ、形態を「儚さ」として捉えて取り込んでいる。

絵画、彫刻、映像、アニメーションといった多様なメディアを横断しながら、ジョアォンの作品は、ブラジルと日本、想像と経験、固有の文化の儀礼とグローバルな流通のあいだに生まれる関係性から立ち上がると同時に、両国に影響を及ぼす政治的・経済的な問題も内包している。不安定な素材、反復される身振り、そして溶解していくイメージは、形態のゆるやかな消失や素材の酸化、あるいは出会いそのものの限られた持続時間といったかたちで、「儚さ」を可視化する装置として機能している。

このように、本展はあらゆるものが痕跡や間隙、出来事として移ろい続ける「通過の場」を提示するものである。

The exhibition “passageiro” brings together works by João Angelini developed during the residency at the Koganecho Artist in Residence Program, in Yokohama, and takes as its axis the figure of the “passenger” — one who moves across territories, cultures, and systems of meaning. The research is built from this transient condition, articulating observation, memory, and displacement, while incorporating the notion of impermanence as a gesture: experiences, images, and forms are understood as provisional events, always in a process of transformation.

Across painting, sculpture, video, and animation, João Angelini’s works emerge from relationships between Brazil and Japan, imagination and direct experience, ritual and global circulation, also incorporating political and economic issues that affect both countries. Unstable materials, repetitive gestures, and dissolving images operate as devices that foreground ephemerality — whether in the gradual disappearance of forms, the oxidation of elements, or the limited duration of the encounter itself. The exhibition thus proposes a field of passage where everything exists in transit, as trace, interval, and event.

ジョアォン・アンジェリーニ

ヴィジュアル・アーティストであるジョアォン・アンジェリーニは、制作のプロセスや方法論、そして異なる言語や技法のあいだに生じる緊張関係への探究を実践の出発点としている。彼の制作は、アニメーション、映像、写真、パフォーマンス、絵画、版画、演劇、音楽といった多様な領域にまたがって展開されている。彼の作品には、権力関係や統制の戦略、抑圧の形態に関わる政治的かつ詩的な問いが通底しており、しばしばユーモアやアイロニーを批評的な手段として用いている。
アンジェリーニはブラジリア周縁、ゴイアス州内陸部に位置する歴史的地域プラナウチナ（連邦直轄区）を拠点とし、植民地主義的な農村と都市的近代性のあいだを往還するリサーチを展開している。アロエイラ材や骨、赤土といった素材から、コンクリート、ガラス、白い大理石に至るまで、多様な物質を用いながら、物質・領土・歴史のあいだにある対比や関係性を浮かび上がらせている。
2005年以降、ブラジル国内外で継続的に発表を行い、第59回ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ（2022年）、デシオ・ノヴィエロ賞（2021年）、Rumos Itaú Cultural（2006年、2009年、2014年）、Funarte制作助成（2011年）などに参加・受賞している。2008年よりアーティスト・グループEmpreZaのメンバーとして、国内外でのレジデンスや共同プロジェクトにも関わっている。
2017年にはプラナウチナ（DF）にて、現代美術における教育・制作・発信を目的としたスペース「Pé Vermelho｜Espaço Contemporâneo」を設立し、現在も運営している。作品はMAB、MAR、サンパウロ・ピナコテカ、イタウ・カルチュラル研究所など、国内外の公私コレクションに収蔵されている。

Visual artist João Angelini takes the investigation of processes, modes of making, and the tensions between languages and techniques as the starting point of his practice, which unfolds across animation, video, photography, performance, painting, printmaking, theater, and music. His work is permeated by political and poetic questions related to power relations, strategies of control, and forms of oppression, often mobilizing humor and irony as critical tools.

Based in Planaltina (DF), a historic territory in the interior of Goiás and on the periphery of Brasília, he develops a research practice that moves between the colonial rural and urban modernity. From materials such as aroeira wood, bones, and red earth to concrete, glass, and white marble, his works articulate contrasts between matter, territory, and history.

Since 2005, he has exhibited regularly in Brazil and abroad, with participations and awards including the 59th Venice Biennale (2022), the Décio Noviello Prize (2021), Rumos Itaú Cultural (2006, 2009, and 2014), and the Funarte Production Grant (2011). He has been a member of Grupo EmpreZa since 2008, participating in residencies and collective projects in Brazil and internationally.

In 2017, he founded and has since coordinated Pé Vermelho | Espaço Contemporâneo in Planaltina (DF), a space dedicated to education, production, and dissemination in contemporary art. His works are part of public and private collections, including MAB, MAR, Pinacoteca de São Paulo, and Instituto Itaú Cultural.
