もろもろ座vol.3となる「眼である、眼差しではない。」では、タイ・バンコクを拠点に活動するJessada Chan-yaemとLucas Haynes、東京を拠点とする齋藤玲児の短編作品を特集します。

この度上映する作品においては、撮影者の身体性が生々しく立ち現れ、観察する––眼差すものとしての映像の特権が剥ぎ取られることで、独特のあたたかみをもったイメージが生まれています。

時としてあからさまな暴力にもなる「眼差す」という営み以前に、「眼である」ことによって真摯に世界と向き合う作品群を通じて、映像における触覚性や親密さについて、来場者の皆さんと思いを巡らせてみたいです。

上映終了後には、斎藤さんをゲストに招いたアフタートークを実施し、トーク終了後は関連イベント「大衆酒場 もろもろ」を開催いたします!

This time, Moro-Moro Screenings will present a selection of short films by Bangkok-based filmmakers Jessada Chan-yaem and Lucas Haynes, and a Tokyo-based filmmaker Reiji Saito.

Their works foreground the physical presence of the filmmaker, stripping away the privileged position of the camera as something that observes—something that gazes. 

To put it differently, they engage the world with sincerity through the condition of simply being an eye. In this screening, we’d like to invite you to reflect with us on intimacy and tactility in moving images through their films. 

After the screening, we will host an after-talk with Reiji Saito. Following the talk, our related dinner & bar event will take place!

プロフィール　Profile

Jessada Chan-yaem 

2000年生まれ。タイ・カムペーンペット県出身のトランス・ノンバイナリーの映像作家／ビジュアルアーティスト。バンコクを拠点に活動。バンコク大学デジタルメディア・シネマティックアーツ学部で映画学の学位を取得。映画、映像、写真、執筆を横断する実践を通じて、映像メディアおよび文学的形式の可能性の拡張を試みている。作品においては、クィア・アイデンティティ、夢、民間伝承、ディアスポラ、生家や故郷での経験、そして政治的問題といったテーマに焦点を当て、個人的な語りやローカルな文脈からそれらと向き合っている。

Lucas Haynes

バンコクを拠点に活動するインディペンデントの映像作家／キュレーター。主にアナログフィルムでの制作を行う。実験的ドキュメンタリー、ビデオ・インスタレーションに加え、パフォーマンス、彫刻、音響を取り込んだ拡張的な形式を通して、映画の境界を探求している。民間伝承やスピリチュアリティ、土地の質感から着想を得つつ、都市や建築との触覚的な関わりから立ち現れてくる作品を手がけている。

斎藤玲児

映像作家。1987年東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学油絵学科卒業。

2008年より日々の生活の中で撮りためられた大量の写真と動画を素材とした映像作品を制作。東京を拠点に国内外の展覧会、映画祭で作品を発表。

主な展示/上映に、『安堵と静寂』（ゲーテ・インスティトゥート東京 / 東京）、『惑星のように見る』（ANOMALY / 東京）、『PAF OLOMOUC 2024』（オロモウツ）、『SCOOLシネマテーク Vol.4　斎藤玲児レトロスペクティブ』（SCOOL / 東京）など。

Jessada Chan-yaem (b. 2000) is a trans-non-binary filmmaker and visual artist from Kamphaeng Phet Province. They currently live and work in Bangkok, Thailand. They hold a degree in Film Studies from the Faculty of Digital Media and Cinematic Arts, Bangkok University. Jessada’s practice spans film, moving image, photography, and writing, and often experiments with expanding the possibilities of cinematic media and literary forms. Their work focuses on themes such as queer identity, dreams, folklore, displacement, experiences of home and hometown, and political inquiry—approached through personal narratives and local contexts.

Lucas Haynes is an independent filmmaker and curator based in Bangkok, working primarily with analog film. His practice explores the boundaries of cinema through experimental documentary, video installation, and expanded forms that incorporate performance, sculpture, and sound. Often inspired by folklore, the spiritual, and the textures of place, his works emerge from a tactile engagement with the city and its architecture. 

Reiji Saito

Video artist. Lives and works in Tokyo. Creating video works since 2008, using a vast archive of photographs and videos from daily life. A consistent-format series numbered from “1,” totaling over thirty works. Works have been exhibited in museums and galleries and screened at film festivals.
