黄金町のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスには、3ヶ月程度を目安にした、短期レジデンスのシステムがあります。３ヶ月とは意外に短い時間なので、その活動をあまり見る間もなくお別れということが時にはあります。
今回は現在黄金町で活動する短期レジデンスのみなさんをご紹介する機会をつくりました。今後もこのような試みを続けていきたいと思います。

The Koganecho AIR program offers short-term residencies of approximately 3 months. Three months is a surprisingly short period of time, and sometimes it is not long before we have to say goodbye without seeing much of the artist’s work.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of the short-term residents who are currently working in Koganecho. We hope to continue this kind of experiment in the future.
Make the “Transient exchange” mean something big.

《Map Series》は、アナ・メンデスがポストコロニアルの文脈に直面するポルトガル国民としてのアイデンティティについて思考するパフォーマンスです。ミシンが置かれたテーブルの椅子に座り、イギリス、ポルトガル、フランス、ドイツ、ロシアなど、帝国主義時代の旧植民地の古地図を縫い付けます。パフォーマンス終了後、地図は音付きのインスタレーションとして部屋の壁に展示されます。

Map Series is a performance in which Mendes considers her identity as a Portuguese citizen facing a post-colonial context.
In this performance-installation, Mendes stitches old paper maps of the former colonies of certain empires – i. e., UK, Portugal, France, Germany, Russia – sitting on a chair at a table with a sewing machine.
After the performance, the map is displayed on the wall of the room as an installation with sound.

アナ・メンデス
ビデオ、写真、インスタレーション、ドローイング、テキストを用い、記憶、言語、アイデンティティといったテーマを探求するビジュアルアーティスト兼ライター。コンセプチュアルであり、可能な限り少ない材料を駆使し、制作を行う。アーティスト、科学者、労働者など、他者とのコラボレーションによって制作された作品もある。ミニマルで詩的な作品と評されることが多い。
アリアネ・メルシエ・ボー
1995年ドイツ生まれのフランス人アーティスト。2021年フランスのグルノーブルにある芸術デザイン学校で学位を取得。テキスタイルを主な媒体として制作を行う。デジタルネイティブ世代である彼女は、オンラインカルチャーと自己イメージを関連させながら、複雑なニュアンスを持つ女性らしさについて掘り下げていく。彼女の表現活動の中心であり作品の中で繰り返されるテーマは親密さの象徴性である。現在、黄金町にて1年間のアーティスト・ レジデンスに参加中。
下村句里子
明治学院大学文学部 芸術学科卒業後、編集・文筆業に従事する。日本画を学んだのち渡米、Herron School of Art and Designを受講(Outstanding Student Award 受賞) 。CAI現代芸術研究所 アートスクール25期卒業制作展、ギャラリー犬養 グループ展に参加。またマオイ自由の丘ワイナリー第5回エチケットアート・アワード・グランプリ受賞。日本画以外にも、興味の幅を広げようと考えている。
スティーブ・フロスト
カナダのバンクーバーで30年以上にわたり、草の根運動的な活動を実践するアートオーガナイザーを務める。ブリティッシュコロンビア大学で絵画と版画を専攻し、学士取得後、数十年にわたり様々な分野の芸術表現を探求。バンクーバーを拠点とするアートコレクティブ集団「タサイ・ファウンデーション」の創設者兼エグゼクティブ・ディレクター。近年の彼の制作の原動力となる主題は、仕事、都市、経済、 充足、所属、恵み、愛、出現、複雑性、相互依存、共同創造の世界、共通善、内面の風景、静寂、スローイズファスト、接続する虚無と充足、無など。
ピンリン・ホワン
1986年台湾・新竹生まれ。2009年台北藝術大学卒業、2014年ボザール・ドゥ・パリにてDNSAP取得。心の中にある内なる世界の風景をテーマとした油彩画を制作。「Piece of Peace」(2013/ プラハ)、「Somewhere Else」(2015/ パリ)、「Dust of mind」(2017/ 東京)、「Dreams Rise From the River Surface」(2021/東京)など個展多数。2009年、台湾の国立美術館に作品が収蔵される。
美塩・持田・ジャック
1997年日本生まれ。ベルギーで育ち、ブリュッセルのラ・カンブル国立美術学校で写真を専攻し修士課程修了。布、写真、刺繍などを用いて、パッチワークやフォークロアの概念に影響を受けた作品を新作として制作している。彼女の作品は、文化、領土、アイデンティティの結びつきを問うものである。

Ana Mendes
Ana Mendes is a visual artist and writer, who explores subjects of memory, language and identity, employing video, photography, installation, drawing, and text. Her work is conceptual and created with as few materials as possible. Some of her works are created in collaboration with other people, be they artists, scientists, or labor workers. Her work is quite often described as minimalist and poetic.
Ariane Mercier-Beau
Born in Germany in 1995, Ariane Mercier-Beau is a French artist who obtained her degree from the School of Art and Design in Grenoble in 2021. Her artistic focus is primarily on textile, which she employs as her main medium. As a digital native, she delves into the intricate nuances of femininity in relation to online culture and self-image. Her creative expression centers around the symbolism of intimacy, which is a recurring theme in all her visual artwork. Currently, she is pursuing a one-year artist residency at AIR Koganecho located in Yokohama, Japan.
Shimomura Kuriko
Shimomura graduated from the Department of Art Studies, Faculty of Letters, at Meiji Gakuin University, and engaged in editing and writing. After studying Japanese painting, she went to the United States and attended lectures at Herron School of Art and Design where she received the Outstanding Student Award). She participated in the CAI Institute of Contemporary Art Art School 25th Graduation Exhibition and Gallery Inukai Group Exhibition. She also won the Maoi Jiyunoka Winery 5th Etiquette Art Award Grand Prix. In addition to the Japanese paintings, she plans to expand her interests and explore other media.
Steve Frost
For over 30 years Steve has been a practicing artist involved with grassroots arts organizing in Vancouver. A BFA studio major from UBC with a focus on painting and printmaking has launched a decades long exploration of multi-disciplinary artistic expression. Steve is the founder and Executive Director of The Tasai Foundation, a Vancouver based collective of creatives for the common good. Some of the topics which drive Steve’s most recent art making include: work, cities, economies, enough, belonging, grace, love, emergence, complexity, interdependence, co-creative worlds, the common good, internal landscapes, stillness, slow-is-fast, emptiness-as-fullness-as-connection, 無.
Pin-ling Huang
Pin-Ling Huang was born in 1986 in Hsin-Chu in Taiwan. She graduated from Taipei University of the Arts in 2009, and obtained the DNSAP from Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2014. She uses oil paints as a painting material. Her paintings focus on the theme of the landscape of the inner world in her mind. Her solo exhibitions include “Piece of Peace” (2013, Prague), “Somewhere Else” (2015, Paris), “Dust of mind” (2017, Tokyo), and “Dreams Rise From the River Surface” (2021, Tokyo). Her work was collected by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in 2009.
Mishio Mochida Jacques
Born in Japan in 1997, Mishio Mochida Jacques grew up in Belgium and graduated with a Master’s degree in photography at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre in Brussels. In her latest works, Mishio focuses on creations influenced by the idea of patchworks and the notion of folklore through the use of fabrics, photography, and embroidery. Her works interrogate the ties between culture, territory, and identity.

The Koganecho Area Management Center holds an exhibition event while working on preventive measures against the COVID-19 infection.
-Please refrain from visiting if you are not feeling well, or if you are infected or suspected to be infected.
-Please cooperate with etiquette such as overing your mouth with a handkerchief, checking body temperature at the time of entry, hand disinfection with alcohol, etc. (Please be considerate of those who are not recommended to wear masks.)
