ソ・ジウ（1991年生まれ）は、変化し続ける都市の風景と、その中に刻まれた時間の痕跡を探求している。彼は都市の歴史と、そこに生きる人々の痕跡を調査しながら、変化する都市の姿を継続的に研究してきた。特に、建築物や構造物の形態を研究し、絶えず変化する都市の瞬間を捉えることに集中している。

ソ・ジウは新羅大学で純粋美術を専攻し、その後、中央大学で修士号を取得した。彼は2024年にIMF-Seoulで個展《アパートでジウは何に耳を傾けるのか？》を開催し、また、《ギルドは互いに》（2024、ソウル市立南ソウル美術館）、《十年ひと昔》（2024、ウラン文化財団）、《類似自我とパレイドリア》（2023、ペルソナギャラリー）、《十個の月と三つのトンネル》（2023、トータル美術館）、《4OR witness》（2022、オンス空間）など、さまざまなグループ展に参加している。

本展《港には日常の渡船》では、横浜という港町で見出した建築の形態や特徴、都市の構造、そしてそこに生きる人々の姿を観察し、それらがどのように変化し、あるいは形成されてきたのかについて、作家の新たな視覚的アプローチを提示している。彼の作品は単なる都市風景を描くものではなく、観客に都市の歴史的・社会的文脈を再考する機会を提供し、都市の建築と人々の暮らしの関係について新たな洞察をもたらそうとしている。

Ziu Suh (b. 1991) explores the evolving urban landscape and the traces of time embedded within it. Examining the history of cities and the marks left by those who have lived within them, he continuously investigates how these spaces change over time — particularly focusing on architecture and structures, capturing fleeting moments of urban transformation. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Sculpture from Silla University, Busan, and later earned a Master’s degree in Art from Chung-Ang University, and held his first solo exhibition “Where Does Ziu in the APT. Listen to?” at IMF-Seoul in Seoul in 2024. He has participated in various group exhibitions in Seoul, Korea, including those at NAM-Seoul Museum of Art and Wooran Foundation in 2024, Persona Gallery and Total Museum in 2023, and Onsu-Gonggan in 2022.

In “The Harbor has Ferries Everyday,” the artist’s visual approach is presented: drawn from observing the architectural forms, structural characteristics, and human presence within Yokohama, a historic port city. By exploring how these elements have been shaped, transformed or preserved, he offers a fresh perspective on urban evolution — going beyond simply depicting cityscapes. Suh invites the audience to reconsider the historical and social contexts of the city, allowing new insights into the complex relationship between architecture and human life.
