14 artists will participate in the art program, composed of "Bazaar Program," special program "Masaki Miyamae and Workshop" and "Yokohama-Chengju Artist-in-Residence Exchange Program."
“Bazaar Program,” 11 artists who were selected for the Koganecho Residency Program will exhibit their new artwork created through approximately 2 month residences in Koganecho.
Masaki Miyamae is an artist who vigorously challenged a wide range of practices in the 1980s and the 1990s, but died young at the age of 43. This project brings particular attention to his pioneering practice of creating workshop. Artists and art professionals who have worked with or been inspired by Miyamae’s practice are invited to reproduce Miyamae’s workshop with their own unique perspectives and interpretations.
A Cultural Exchange Program created through collaboration between: Yokohama Arts Foundation (Yokohama, Japan), A4 Contemporary Arts Center (Chengdu, China) and Koganecho Area Management Center (Yokohama, Japan.) Artists who participated in the Artist-in-Residence Exchange Program between Yokohama and Chengdu will show their artworks, made during their residencies in these respective countries.
We will re-show some of Chisato Tanaka’s artworks, which were made for Koganecho Bazaar 2008, in collaboration with Yokohama Civic Art Gallery.
