Urban Design Laboratory, Yokohama City University

The Urban Design Laboratory at Yokohama City University has been involved in community development in Koganecho since 2007 after being approached by community leaders in the Koganecho area.

It has conducted a variety of activities while working side-by-side with local community members, including the creation of a booklet recounting the history of the town, workshops with children on safe and secure community development, operation of a community café, planning and management of events that provide opportunities for residents to interact, and experiments in the use of public space in the town.
