Suzanne Mooney

Suzanne Mooney (b. 1979) is a Dublin-born artist living in Tokyo. She graduated with a PhD from Tama Art University, in 2014, and holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art (Virtual Realities) from the National College of Art and Design, Ireland. She was a recipient of the Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship from 2009 to 2014, has received support from a number of funding bodies including The Arts Council of Ireland and Culture Ireland, and has been awarded residencies in Iceland, Korea, Ireland, Japan and Spain. Mooney was awarded the Aesthetica Art Prize for her recent graduate works in 2015. Her arts practice examines how representations of landscape in visual arts can reflect the lived-space of our contemporary culture, exploring issues of globalization, urbanization and rapid technological developments within our societies. In recent years she has exhibited regularly in Asia and Europe, and is a writer for "5: Designing Media Ecology" magazine.
