Let There Be Light: Paper Lanterns Made from Washi Paper Upcoming

This is a workshop where you’ll create your own original washi lanterns alongside artist THU KIM VU, who creates works primarily using washi paper.

Under THU KIM VU’s guidance, you’ll carefully craft each lantern one by one, making the most of washi’s unique qualities. Since we’ll be taking our time to create high-quality lanterns, the workshop will last a little longer than usual.

At the end of the workshop, we’ll light the finished lanterns and take a stroll through Koganecho together. Carry the light you’ve created with your own hands and enjoy a slightly different view of Koganecho.

You may take your lantern home with you after the workshop.

From “making” to “walking through the town.”

Join artist Thu Kim Vu, whose practice primarily explores washi (Japanese paper), for a hands-on workshop to create your own original washi lantern.

Under Thu Kim Vu’s guidance, participants will explore the unique qualities of washi and carefully craft their own lanterns. The workshop is designed to allow plenty of time for detailed and thoughtful creation, resulting in beautifully crafted lanterns.

At the end of the workshop, we will light our completed lanterns and take a walk together through the streets of Koganecho. Carrying the light you created yourself, experience the neighborhood from a different perspective as evening falls.

You can take your handmade lantern home with you after the workshop.
