In 2002, Ma Yanhong graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China. She became renowned for her pioneering use of realistic techniques to create life-sized semi-nude portraits of young women her age. These works earned her acclaim and set the foundational direction for her creative journey over the next two decades. Ma Yanhong is a member of the avant-garde art group \u201cN12\u201d in China.
At the end of 2020, following her move to Yokohama, she underwent a stylistic transformation in her artwork. Using collage techniques, she integrated elements of anime into her paintings, depicting the female body in a blend of imagination and fashion culture.
In addition to her paintings, her personal project \u201cTime Traveller\u201d focuses on designing and producing Chinese dolls from the 1970s. Through various media such as painting, installations, and film, she explores and presents themes related to dolls, reflecting China\u2019s social dynamics and the rapidly evolving societal realities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
