HWIHWI earned her Master\u2019s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Photography at Korea National University of Arts. Her practice centers on the materiality of film, working across photography, 16mm film, and playwriting to visually explore her hometown, Jeju, and personal narratives rooted in it. She views specific events that occurred in Jeju not as isolated incidents, but as globally recurring phenomena. Through various media, she addresses these overlooked states of disaster and captures the people and stories within them.
