人と人とのつながりは、私のアーティスト兼彫刻家としての創作活動において常に重要な要素でした。日本を旅する中で、私は日本人の生活様式に非常に魅了されました。日本は、社会的調和や集団の利益を重んじる価値観と同時に、個々のプライバシーや自由を尊重する文化で知られています。
特に印象深かったのは、横浜・黄金町でのレジデンスプログラム中の経験です。そこでは、人と人がより深く知り合うための温かさを感じました。お互いの間に壁がなく、自然体で関わり合い、自分自身について自由に話し合えるような、心地よく温かな雰囲気がありました。
私は、日本人の人間関係を深く理解するために、アンケートを作成することにしました。アンケートの質問には、「何を楽しんでいますか？」「いつも心に残っている楽しい思い出は何ですか？」「その思い出の中で誰と一緒に過ごしていましたか？」といった内容を盛り込みました。
多くの人々と交流し、アンケートへの回答を集めたところ、その反応はさまざまでした。それぞれの回答を、私にとって芸術的なインスピレーションとして受け取り、この作品の制作に反映させました。
このアンケートを通じて、異なる文化や価値観、個性を持つ新しい人々に出会うことへの興味が一層高まりました。

こんにちは。私の名前はウィルマンです。
Human relationships have always been an important part of my creative process as an artist and sculptor. My journey through Japan fascinated me with the way they live their lives. Japan is often identified with collective values, such as a belief in social harmony and the interests of the group, while still respecting the privacy and freedom of each individual.
One of the most impressive experiences I had was during my residency program at Koganecho Yokohama, where I felt a greater warmth in getting to know each other. I felt a warmth in getting acquainted without any barriers between us. Everyone shared information about themselves and spoke openly, creating a comfortable and warm atmosphere where we could all express ourselves freely.
Creating a survey was my way of understanding the interactions between people during my time in the Koganecho residency. The questions I asked in the survey included: What do they enjoy? What fond memories do they always remember? And who were they with when they had those fond memories?
After interacting with and distributing the survey to several respondents, their reactions varied. I interpreted their responses as artistic interactions that inspired me in the creation of this work. Through this survey, I became interested in meeting new people with different cultures, differences, and uniqueness.
