As part of our measures to prevent the spread of infections we are limiting the capacity for Kazuo Ohno: A Portrait of Mr. O (film screening) on the 16th and 17th October at 19:00~. To book your place, please fill out the following form. 

Reservation limit: 40 30 people 
*Unfortunately if we reach maximum capacity you will not be able to make a reservation.
*Reception will open 30min~15min before the performance. If you do not arrive by 18:45, your seat may be given to someone else.
*Reservations cannot be made for both days.

*The reservation for the performance on October 16 has been closed because it has reached capacity.
*The web application for the performance on October 17 has been closed.There will be seats available on the day of the event, so please come to the venue on the day if you wish to attend.

About Kazuo Ohno’s A Portrait of Mr. O (film screening)

(1969) 16mm  monochrome 65min

This film was made in various locations around Kazuo Ohno’s home in Hodogaya, Yokohama, including his rehearsal studio and the boiler room of the school where Kazuo was working at the time. Kazuo would often say that “life is my dance teacher” and in this film “life” is his stage. The music is also played by Kazuo himself. Directed by Chiaki Nagano.

大野一雄 Kazuo Ohno

Butoh dancer. Born in Hakodate in 1906. Studied modern dance while working as a PE teacher. After co-starring in performances with Tatsumi Hijikata in the 1960s, he performed his solo Admiring La Argentina in 1977 at the age of 71 to great shock and acclaim, and went on to make his overseas debut in 1980 at the Nancy World Theatre Festival in 1980. After that he performed all over the world, making “Butoh” well known internationally. He passed away in 2010.

Information may be shared with the instructor of the workshop as necessary to prepare for the workshop.
In case of an outbreak of Covid-19 at the facility, this information may also be used to pass on details of affected persons to healthcare institutions as necessary.
*There may be a staff member present taking photographs during the workshop for documentation and PR purposes. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken, please let the staff member know.
