Yoshiko Fujita, Girl with bobbed hair 1, 2019, 74cm×89cm, acrylic on canvas, Private collection

Born in Akita, Japan, 1991. Fujita graduated from the Department of Design (Graphic Design) at Tohoku University of the Arts & Design in 2014. She started to paint the motif of a girl whose face is hidden by draped curtain. She gets inspired by contemporaneity, her own experience and communication. Her unique motif that at a glance looks strange questions the way of communication without superficial information. Her recent solo exhibition include Thirsty Girls (2020, Kameido Art Center, Tokyo, Japan) and I am a Girl (2018, Studio 35 minutes, Tokyo, Japan). The recent group exhibition she participated in include The 23rd Exhibition of the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art (2020, TARO OKAMOTO MUSEUM OF ART KAWASAKI, Kanagawa, Japan), LUMINE meets Art Award 2018-2019 EXHIBITION (2019, LUMINE EST Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan), and Shu Shu Shu Shou (2018, SPIRAL, Tokyo, Japan).
