Elena Knox

現在東京を拠点に活動。早稲田大学基幹理工学研究科表現工学科表現工学専攻で研究を進める。オーストラリアのニューサウスウェールズ大学アート＆デザイン学科メディアアートコースにおいて、彼女の博士論文は大学院研究部門にて優秀賞を受賞。彼女はデジタルメディア、パフォーマンス、彫刻、サウンド、音楽そしてインスタレーションなどの分野を横断した作品を制作。彼女は、人間が自分たちとは異なるものとの共生を図る力、つまり自然現象でさえも共同体の一部に組み込み、宇宙における究極的な人間の孤独を押し返す力となるトーテミズムやフェティシズムといった原始的な衝動に、人々を掻き立てる。

Elena Knox is currently based in Tokyo, as a researcher for Waseda University in the department of Intermedia Art and Science. Her doctoral dissertation in Media Art received the award for excellence at UNSW Australia Art & Design. She has created works that span the fields of digital media, performance, sculpture, sound, music, and installation. She invites us to explore themes of totemism, idolatry, and fetishism, believing that these universal human impulses are attempts to commune with parahuman phenomena, and to push back against our ultimate loneliness in the galaxy.
